interesting problem..related to selection criteria..

Have report where the user should be able to enter some selection critera to EXCLUDE from the result set displayed.

I deally Iwould liek to include it in the sql parameters to avoid retunring a larger then necessary result set, but Couldn't I also use it inthe filter criteria?

Has anyone done anything like this.

ie: a drop down box where people could add exclusions.

ie: Apples, Oranges

would be excluded from the result list.

So If I entered Apples, Oranges

the resultset would eclude these from the returned dataset.

I realize using a multi param box is fruitless. WOndering if there is another way to do this

Why wouldn't multi-param work?

Select something from sometable where (@.multiparam is null or fruit not in (@.multiparam))

Does this look ok?

cheers,

Andrew

Inter-depending parameters

Hello all,
If I want to create a report where there're 3 parameters A, B, C.
While the list of displayed items of A depends on selected value on B & C.
list of displayed items of B depends on selected value on A.
list of displayed items of C depends on selected value on A also.
Is this possible?Sounds to me like you've got a circular dependancy.
If parameters B + C were governed from the selection in the A parameter then fair enough.
If the A parameter were governed from the selection in the B & C parameters then it would also be fair enough.
From what I can gather, you're suggesting that A is governed by B & C but then B & C is also then governed by A. This constanting updating of parameter lists may result in a report never actually getting run as the dependancy is cyclic.
I'd have a re-think about the logic involved and see if this is a clear picture of the situation as i'm a little confused.

Interactive sort not working if sub report

Hi,
I am having an issue that when a sub report that contains fields that
are setup to do interactive sort only work if they are displayed as the
parent report. If they are included as a sub report when trying to do
a sort the page just posts back but comes back unsorted.
Is there a work around for this or is it just not possible on SSRS
2005?
Please Help!

I had the same problem with sorting in a sub report, I then changed my
report to not contain a sub report, however I found that when you group
your data in a table using a "Group On" expression, sorting does not
work either. Sorting only appears to work on non-grouped data fields
in a table and not in a sub report.
