Integration with Team Foundation Server

Hi Everyone.
Does Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) integrate with the Team Foundation Server? I've read that BIDS is based on VS.NET, but it's a different client than standard VS.NET.
Can we setup a Team Foundation Project and integrate the work item lists, check in policies, etc, with BIDS?
Thanks,
RobBIDS is actually just a copy of the VS IDE so in theory it should work. But it does not come with the Team Foundation Project, only the BI projects. YOu can upgrade BIDS to a full copy of VS by just installing over the top, this will keep the BI projects. Or you can just install the BI projects into a VS installation.

Management Studio uses VS technology and so will not automatically work with TS.|||I have this working without problem, though my understanding was that the latest patch set for TFS included support for the full set of database projects in VSTS.

Integrating SSIS with IBM's Tivoli

Hi,

I have a requirement, where I have to integrate SSIS with IBM's Tivoli for scheduling of SSIS packages. Currently we are doing it using SQL sever Job Agent.

Do any one have Document or link or references, which I can refer to to acheive the above mentioned requirement?

Thanks

Sid

A better resource for you would be Tivoli documentation which explains how to schedule an executable using Tivoli. Then you can schedule DTExec.exe to execute your packages.

Hi

We had a serious issue that has to be closed very soon.

I want to integrate SQL Reporting services with wss 3.0 and not MOSS 2007

I find many articles that shows integration of SQL reporting services 2005 with MOSS.

If i do the similar steps i dont find the Reporting Services section in Application Management of wss central administration.

Please some one provide me the steps to achive this task.

Many Thanks,

Srinivas

Yes i got the solution for this

We need to Activate the Reporting services in the Central Administration this can be done by the following steps

1. Go to Site settings

2.In the Site collection Administration navigate to Site collection Features

3. Enable the Settings for Reporting Sevices

This will dispay the Reporting Section in the Application Management of Central Administration

Hope this will be help full.

And also i am planning to provide complete steps for integration in Next Article

Many Thanks,

Integrating SQL Server 2005 with SP1

I have the SQL Server 2005 Developer DVD and i download the SP1

how can i integrate the Service Pack with the DVD content (Of cource after extracting on my HD) ?

This comes up from time to time and the best response I've seen so far is from Euan's blog. The short answer is no, it is not supported on the Developer SKU (only with the Express SKUs)

integrating RS with asp.net app

Hi,
I would like to integrate RS with asp.net application.
Need your help, some how-to...
TIA,
KamelThree ways: URL integration (search help on URL), web services and (the best
option in my opinion) the new controls that ship with VS 2005. These
controls (winform and webform) are the easiest and best way to integrate
reports into your app. The new controls use web services.

Are there any samples in the documentation or somwhere else?
How to manage large report lists, folders - replacment for Report
Manger functionality?
Kamel|||For that sort of thing you need to look at the documentation on web
services. You can get all that type of information through that method.

Integrating RS 2005 Reports with Web Applications

Hi All
M a newbie in RS 2005 ..
I need to integrate my RS 2005 Reports into the web applications ...
say ASP.NET or made using C# ...
without using the web-services ...
there's a way using URL access and one more using Visual Basic 2005 ...
All my queries are stored as stored procedure and need to have my own
interface where from the user can see the report for the actions which
one takes ..
Please help...
Regards
Manu GuptaURL access to reports is well documented in the SQL Server books online.
You can download here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/downloads/books.mspx
in case you don't already have SQL 2005 installed somewhere.
URL access will work no matter what your development environment or language
is. Obviously I'd recomend using VisualStudio.NET 2005. The choice of C#,
VB.NET or any of the other .NET language providers makes no difference at
all.

integrates wtih RS.
URL access will work but in your case what you should be looking at are the
new controls that come with VS 2005. The controls come in two flavors:
winform and webform. They will drastically reduce your integration time.
They are built using web services but that would be transparent to you.

Integrating Reports with ASP page

HI,

I've created reports using VS2003 n sqlserver 2000.Now I need to view these reports from ASP page. Can anybody tell me how to integrate it with ASP .Can I use report viewer control? Thanks in advance.

May

May,

I have used iFrames in the past to drop an ASPX page inside an ASP. It is messy to have these two interact, but sometimes you are stuck with it.

If you want a seemless iFrame you can use the code below inside your ASP page:

<iframe src="test.aspx"framespacing="0" border="0" frameborder="0"></iframe>

You may also wish to set these:width="100%"marginheight="0"marginwidth="0"height="500" scrolling="yes"

As far as browser compatibility goes, beware of the scrollbar and how different browsers render scrollbars.

More reference: iFrame W3c spec

Thanks,

Chelsea

Integrating data from two Tables into one

Hi all,

In case I have two tables. In them there is data and I want to integrate all this data into one table.

that is to say Table A and Table B has data (Both A and B are from the same database)

I want to integrate all this data into Table c.

How do i go about this?

Regards,

Ronaldlee

Can you be more specific? How exactly do you want to "integrate" this data?

-Jamie

|||

Hi Jamie, I want to use SSIS 2005 to get data from Table A and Table B into table C.

At the end of the day Table C will act as my staging table.

Ronald

|||

Do tableA & tableB have the same structure as each other?|||

Table A has three columns and Table B has two columns.

Table A and B are in the same database and table C is in the different database.

Ronald

|||

My god this is like pulling teeth!!!!!

What transformation do you want to perform on TableA & TableB in order to get the data into tableC?|||

No men, you are not rude.

Okay, I do not have any idea about the JOIN or UNION Transformation. May be you can recommend.

I need table C to have all the five columns from table A(3Columns) and B(2Columns).

Table A and Table B are the source

Table C is the target.

I need to find a way to join Table A and B.(Is it possible?)

OK, that's useful!

Ronaldlee Ejalu wrote:

Only you can answer that. Is there a field in each of those two tables that means the same thing for both tables? If so, you could join on that field in the MERGE JOIN component.

Joining two tables that don't have a relationship between them is an incredibly uncommon thing to do and hence SSIS doesn't contain anything to do it. There is possibly a way to do it but i suspect that that is not what you want to do!

-Jamie

|||

Thanx Jamie,

Could you tell me the other way. May i Could come across it in future.

Thanx alot

Regards,

Ronald

The "other way" I spoke of is to do the joining in a script component or custom component that you build yourself. Those options mean writing code!

Integrating And Calling of RS

hi there,

does any1 know how i can integrate the RS with the web application that i had done using C# asp.net?

your regards

Angela

you know that Reporting Serivices is a web service right ? you could call the webservice and pass parameters.
here are a couple of links :Link 1 andlink 2 that make a call the web service API.

Integrated SQL across large geographical areas.

Is it possible to integrate SQL Server 2005 across a large geographical area?

For Example from England to India?

I don't uderstand your question. Is this a SSIS related issue? if not please use the appropiate forum.
